PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Our Eco-friendly Film-forming Auxiliary is a low-VOC, waterborne additive designed to help polymer particles soften, coalesce and form a continuous, smooth film under practical drying conditions. It is suitable for architectural latex paints, water-based industrial coatings, printing inks and adhesive systems where both film performance and environmental compliance are required.

The product acts as a temporary coalescing aid: it reduces the minimum film-forming temperature of the emulsion, improves particle fusion and supports the formation of a dense film network. This mechanism helps avoid cracking, poor adhesion, powdery surface and uneven gloss, especially in low-temperature or high-humidity environments where normal film formation is difficult.

Unlike traditional high-VOC film formers, this eco-friendly grade is developed with low-odor, low-volatility and environmentally responsible raw materials. It reduces solvent emission during painting and drying, lowers health impact on operators, and supports compliance with modern indoor air-quality and coating environmental standards.

It shows good compatibility with acrylic emulsions, styrene-acrylic copolymers, vinyl acetate polymers, water-based resins and most coating auxiliaries. Within the recommended dosage, it does not cause viscosity instability, colour change or storage separation, and it helps maintain good pot life and application stability.

In practical use, the auxiliary improves film continuity, edge coverage, adhesion to substrates and resistance to early water exposure. It also optimizes open time, reduces brush marks and orange peel, and gives the final coating a more uniform, smoother and more durable surface.

Recommended fields include interior and exterior latex paints, low-odor architectural coatings, water-based industrial paints, printing inks, varnishes and waterborne adhesives. It can be used in both architectural decoration and industrial coating production where low odor and low VOC are important requirements.

Every batch is tested for coalescing efficiency, VOC level, compatibility and storage stability. We can adjust the evaporation rate, solvency and dosage range according to customer’s emulsion type, drying conditions and final film requirements. COA, TDS and MSDS are available to support quality traceability and export documentation.

POINTS FOR ATTENTION

ORDER INSTRUCTIONS
1. Confirm Product Grade and Application Please tell us your downstream product, emulsion type, construction method, drying temperature and required VOC level. We will recommend the most suitable grade and reference dosage.
2. Confirm Quantity and Packaging Standard packaging includes 25 kg plastic drums, 200 L drums and IBC tanks. Custom labels, shipping marks and pallet packing are available for export orders.
3. Confirm Delivery Requirements Please provide the delivery port or destination. We will confirm lead time, loading plan and necessary export documents before production.
4. Quality Assurance and Technical Support Each batch is supplied with COA, TDS and MSDS. If film-forming performance or compatibility issues occur under recommended conditions, our team will assist with re-testing and dosage adjustment.
Trial Order Tip:
For new customers, we recommend a small trial batch first to verify film clarity, gloss, hardness and storage stability in your actual formula.
USAGE NOTES
Dosage Control:
Typical dosage is 2–8% based on emulsion weight. Start from the lower limit and increase gradually. Overdosing may cause slow drying, soft film or reduced hardness.
Adding Method:
Add slowly under moderate stirring, preferably during the later stage of paint production. Avoid adding all at once in the early high-shear stage.
Compatibility Test:
Before mass production, test compatibility with your emulsion, pigment slurry, thickener and other auxiliaries. Observe film clarity, gloss and storage stability.
Application Conditions:
Use within the recommended temperature and humidity range. Poor drying conditions may affect final film hardness and surface quality.
Storage Condition:
Keep sealed in a cool, dry and ventilated warehouse at 5–35℃. Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperature.
Safety Operation:
Wear gloves and protective glasses during handling. Avoid ingestion and direct contact with eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
COMMON FORMULAS

Exterior Wall CoatingStyrene-acrylic emulsion, filler, dispersant, anti-UV agentEF-100 / EF-300
High-gloss VarnishWater-based resin, matting agent, wetting agentEF-200
Water-based Industrial PaintResin, pigment, additive, curing agentEF-500
Water-based Flexo InkResin, pigment, humectant, surfactantEF-100 / EF-200
Water-based AdhesiveEmulsion, tackifier, stabilizerEF-100
Elastic Waterproof CoatingElastic emulsion, filler, additiveEF-300
Low-temperature Decoration PaintEmulsion, coalescing aid, thickenerEF-300
Formula Guidance:
Choose EF-100 for general interior paints, EF-200 for high-gloss systems, EF-300 for low-temperature or exterior systems, and EF-400 for low-odor interior applications. Adjust dosage based on emulsion hardness and drying conditions.
COMMON PROBLEMS IN DOWNSTREAM PRODUCTION
Poor Film Formation and Cracking Film-forming auxiliary level is insufficient, or the selected grade cannot soften the emulsion under actual drying conditions. Solution: Increase dosage gradually or switch to EF-300 low-temperature grade; ensure sufficient open time before film hardening.
Slow Drying and Soft Film Overdosing is the most common cause. Too much auxiliary keeps the film plasticized and delays hardness development. Solution: Reduce dosage, choose a faster-evaporating grade, and confirm the recommended dosage range for your emulsion.
Gloss Reduction or Hazing Wrong grade or incompatibility may disturb resin particle fusion and create a hazy surface. Solution: Switch to EF-200 high-gloss grade, test compatibility, and avoid excessive dosage.
Adhesion Failure on Substrates Insufficient coalescence leads to weak interface bonding, especially on metal, plastic or smooth surfaces. Solution: Increase film-forming auxiliary properly, improve surface pretreatment, and confirm grade suitability for the substrate.
Storage Stability Problems Separation, viscosity change or gelation may occur if the auxiliary is incompatible with the emulsion or other additives. Solution: Perform compatibility testing before production; adjust pH and additive order if needed.
High Odor or Strong VOC Standard grades may not meet sensitive indoor requirements. Solution: Use EF-400 odorless interior grade and confirm VOC profile with your final product standard.
Orange Peel and Uneven Surface Evaporation rate is mismatched with the construction method, or film formation happens too fast before leveling. Solution: Select a slower-evaporating grade, adjust open time, and optimize application viscosity.
Early Water Sensitivity The film is not fully hardened before exposure to water, causing whitening or leaching. Solution: Extend curing time, avoid early water contact, and use EF-500 industrial grade for better early hardness.
