Our Humectant and Chelating Agent series is a group of multifunctional water-based chemical additives that play two essential roles in formulation systems. As humectants, they absorb and retain moisture, preventing drying, cracking and viscosity drift in coatings, inks, adhesives, ceramics and personal care products. As chelating agents, they bind and neutralize metal ions in water, eliminating the negative effects of calcium, magnesium and heavy metals on formulation stability and performance.
These two functions make the products extremely valuable in water-based systems where hard water or metal ion contamination is a common production problem. By controlling free ions, the chelating grade prevents precipitation, discoloration, rancidity, scale and emulsion breaking, while improving the efficiency of surfactants, thickeners and preservatives in the formula.
The humectant grade keeps the system moist during drying and curing, reducing skinning, edge drying, brush drag and poor flow, which are typical defects in fast-drying water-based paints and inks. It also supports better film formation and smoother surface quality without leaving greasy or sticky residues.
Both grades are supplied in liquid or powder form depending on application, with excellent water solubility, good pH tolerance and wide compatibility with resins, pigments, surfactants and other additives. They are easy to dose and blend into existing production lines without complicated process changes.
Typical downstream sectors include water-based paint and ink, emulsion polymerization, textile dyeing, leather processing, metal cleaning, agriculture, personal care and pharmaceutical formulations. Every batch is tested for chelating value, moisture retention, pH, appearance and storage stability before delivery, and complete COA, TDS and MSDS documents are provided for export and quality traceability.

POINTS FOR ATTENTION
For new customers, we recommend a small trial batch first to verify chelating value, moisture retention and compatibility in your actual formulation before bulk order.
Typical dosage is 0.1–1.5% for chelating grades and 0.5–3% for humectant grades. Start from the lower limit and increase gradually until the desired effect is achieved.
Add during the water phase stage under moderate stirring, before adding resin or pigment slurry. Pre-dissolve powder grades in a small amount of water for better dispersion.
Test the hardness of your process water first. In high-hardness areas, increase the chelating dosage proportionally to fully neutralize calcium and magnesium ions.
Before mass production, verify compatibility with your resin, pigment, surfactant and thickener system. Observe pH, viscosity and storage stability changes.
Keep sealed in a cool, dry and ventilated warehouse at 5–35℃. Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperature. Powder grades must be protected from moisture.
Wear gloves and protective glasses during handling. Avoid ingestion and direct contact with eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
